How do I shop for veil/shoes/purse w/out my dress on hand?
I went to the salon where I ordered my wedding gown for a veil and tiara show. I was able to wear a sample so I can see what looks best especially since my gown is Champagne, a bit darker than Ivory. I don't want to buy my veil etc at that store because it is so expensive. I don't understand how I am supposed to find the right color match for a veil, shoes and purse if I don't have my dress with me. Imagine the mismatch of color if my dress is dark Champagne and my shoes are too light?
I've ordered a swatch of my dress. They gave me the wrong color. Hopefully, the correct one will come in. How is everyone else matching their accessories? Never been married before. I assume I don't bring the dress home until the week of my wedding when it is pressed.

omg im in the totally same position! i want to get my veil at barrons and my dress isn't supposed to be in for months!

I asked my store for a swatch of the color so I could match/dye my stuff.

The place where I got my headpiece/veil told me that I can give them a swatch from my dress after my first dress fitting so that they can dye the veil to match (Bridal Styles in Brooklyn). I think the matchy-matchy is being phased out though for things like shoes and pocketbook so those I will probably get ivory, and not sweat if it's a shade or two lighter or darker. I also got a nice-sized swatch of the fabric when I ordered the dress, but of course that came from a different dye lot number so it's a close estimate but not exact.

I actually just ran into the same problem. I called the salon where I ordered my dress from and they shipped me a swatch that I could use to compare my other accessories to!!!

I want to get my veil from Barron's also but my dress won't be in for months. From all the responses, looks like the way to go is ordering a swatch which I did. They didn't seem happy about it then the wrong color came in and frankly, the wrong material-I can tell. They said they'd order the correct color of champagne.
The shoes and purse too light will look awful with champagne but slightly off Ivory won't be a big deal. I thought maybe everyone else was doing it some other way I didn't know about. Thanks everyone.
