I am finally going dress shopping and I don't know where I should go and if I should make appointments.
Any suggestions ???

Re: How do I start looking for a dress ???
Definitely make appts. Start anywhere your heart desires. I can't recommend anywhere because I've only been to David's but many girls on here will recommend excellent places in your area. Happy shopping!

Re: How do I start looking for a dress ???
most places insist on or prefer appointments. try magazines and online to get ideas...if you see something you like, take the picture with you even if you don't want the actual dress, if the style/look is something you think you're into, it will help the ladies in the shops hunt for you. also, and this is important, be open minded...the dress[es] you thought you'd hate might be the ones you love on. i never wanted a ball gown EVER...but i ended up in one and loved it!
as for places to go, i'm not too helpful there.
good luck

I browsed a little in magazines and brought a few pictures with me. Best way is just to make an appt and just try them on - all different kinds so you get an idea of what style looks best on you.

Re: How do I start looking for a dress ???
I flipped through magazines and went to a couple of websites to find designers I liked then I went to the designers web pages to find where they were sold.
Be aware of where you go - meaning - pick a place that is convenient to get to for fittings and such. My sister bought her dress on Long Island (we live in Queens & work in Manhattan). It became a pain going out there in traffic.
Good Luck!

I looked through magazines and online to get an idea of what I wanted. I then went to RK Bridal in the city and gave the person helping me some ideas of what I wanted and a price range. I found something immediately in the low end of my price range!

Sooooo true! Even if you think it's something that won't look good on you, go for it... you'd be surprised.

Browse magazines and bring pictures with you to the salons.
Always make an appt. before going, so you get personal service!
I recommend David's to buy, not to alter, plus Phyllis (gownfind.com - bridal elegance) can get a dress for you at half cost sometimes.

YOU SHOULD BE!!! dress shopping is a lot of fun...it's a lot of work and can be frustrating...just keep focusing on how gorgeous you will be when you marry the man of your dreams.
