Just wondering what people feel about Friday night as opposed to Sat night.? Do you think it is a big deal? Do people really feel inconvenienced on a friday? The prices are a significant difference.

I love them! I had one! I also have 1 this yr and Im so excited! U know whats great about friday weddings? - u just get out of work, and u cant wait to drink and party and u have the WHOLE weekend to re-coop! It truly was awesome! Friday or Saturday didnt matter to me, but Villa Lombardi's didn't have any saturdays in the summer of 2006 months, just a couple fridays, and mine was the only friday in July. And there was something about 7-7-06 that stuck out in my mind. Of course, I could have had [back in March 2005] 7-7-07, which is a Sat, but I didnt want to wait that long! Basically, if I were to have the wedding on a Sat instead of Friday, Villa would havw charged us just about the same because we had evey extra imagineable, but it just didnt matter to me!
But keep in mind, you will always have more people at the church on a Sat!

I don't mind when a friend has their wedding! If you consider me a friend and want me there, I'll be there no matter what night of the week it is.

I don't like the idea of it, people work during the day and then out of town guests would have to figure out a way to make it.. I just feel if you have it on a Sat. or Sun. it's less of a stressor on the guests.

We are doing a Fri night! When I asked my friends if they'd rather the Fri or the Sun they chose Fri night so they can party all nite on Fri and sleep it off on Sat. I can't wait! I know it is going to be a BLAST!

Thanks for all the great feedback. I am now assured that a Friday night is not as big a deal as some people make it. Like most of you said, whoever wants to be there will be. Most of my guests are local and the one's out of town, will be here days before. Thanks!!!!!

please im getting married on a thursday night! if people really wanna be there, then they'll be there. if they dont, then why invite them in the first place? im not gonna stress whether someones gonna make it or not. thursday nights are the same as friday and sunday weddings. it should be more popular. esp. since im saving a GREAT deal on the hall, and my vendors.

We were a Friday night on a haliday weekend and it was great!
I had mine on Friday and it was fine. People who are your friends and family can make the time. You send the invites with enough time for them to rearrange schedules if they have to. I wasnt about to spend an additional $35-40 pp to have in the next night on Saturday for the same exact thing.

i wanted a Sat always! And for my winter wedding it was 10$ more for a Sat verse Fri....not bad so we were gonna do it! But i liked the idea that we can wake up Sat and stil have that day and Sun to 'recover'...so we picked a Fri

I had a Friday night wedding and it was fine for most.
I personally prefer a Friday night over Sunday as I feel I can enjoy it more.

A Friday night wedding does not bother me at all. If someone really wants to attend your wedding, they will take the necessary steps in order to ensure that they will be there.
I am getting married on a Friday (with a 6:30pm ceremony). My thought is if people want to be there they will make it work, and if not then that is OK too!

I had a Friday night wedding. Not one person complained to me that it was a problem. Maybe they said something to someone behind my back, but that's their problem. But my church was packed and not one person left early from the reception, which I had extended to 1:30 AM. Not even the 'old' people.

Fridays could be the new Saturdays! Everyone is going to have something to say- But do what you feel is right and what is in your budget! We are having a friday night wedding and someone posted if they want to be there they will be...Good Luck

I just have a question about pics for a friday wedding. FH and I are considering a Friday wedding (Memorial Day weekend) or the Sunday before Memorial Day.
However if we have it on Friday- we would prob have a 5:00p ceremony (not a mass) at the church. Then would a 7:00pm cocktail hour be too late? I want time to take pics and attend the cocktail hour.
Also, I know by May the sun doesnt go down so early. But around 6-7pm would it still be light enough out to take pics outside??
Thats another concern...

For me, it totally depends on whether it is local or OOT. I totally wouldn't mind attending a wedding on Friday as long as I didn't have to miss work. (7pm wedding)
However, if the ceremony was at like 5pm and I had to travel to the venue (more than 30 minute travel time), I would find it inconvenient. Of course I would probably try to make it regardless to the ceremony but I would prefer it to be later at night or on Saturday or Sunday so I would not have to take time off of work.
If it was an OOT wedding, I would find it highly inconvenient as I'd have to take a full day off of work.

Fh and I are also considering a Friday night wedding. We are paying for the wedding ourselves so we are trying to set a specific budget.
We definitely wanted May 24th 2009. It is a Sunday night but Memorial Day is the next day. Therefore halls are charging a little less than a Saturday night but a little more than a normal Sunday wedding would cost.
Therefore we are considering May 22nd the Friday before Memorial Day. I told FH (who isnt too fond of a friday night wedding) that alot of people take off Friday before Memorial Day weekend because they want a long weekend. And also if people want to be there they will make the point to be there.
Thats my opinion. But I like getting input from other people cause I don't want to cause an inconvienence either....
************************************************* I did the same thing! I got a huge price break for doing a Sunday Night, Memorial Day Weekend May 25, 08! Look for a 3 day weekend!
