how do you ...

how do you ...

tell a friend that she's not going to be in your bridal party?

i've decided to have only 4 people in my bridal party ... my 2 best friends as MOHs and my FH's 2 sisters. i have a feeling that another friend of mine is expecting me to ask her to be in my bridal party. i was in hers a few years ago when she got married. how should i approach this? we basically just e-mail each other every now and then (actually i don't even think i've really seen her since her wedding!). any thoughts?

I had the same problem, I had three girls who I wasn't planning on having in my BP who's BP's I was in or asked to be in (one wedding got called off early in the process).

I asked the two girls who's weddings I had been in to do readings at the wedding. I said we are having a small bridal party but, I would like you to be part of my special day and they were fine with it (one of the weddings was just last year too!)

We're having 5 girls and 5 guys in our BP. I'm finding it's hard enough coordinating the 5 girls, I couldn't imagine if I had 7! It was hard to do at the time but, I don't regret the decision at all (and the girls have already booked their hotel rooms for the wedding - they are OOT).

I like this idea of deciding to keep the bridal party small, but then finding something that will still make her feel like a special part in your deay

just let her know you want it to be very small and offer her another position such as a reader or something. if you use the 'we want a small BP' angle, she can't really get angry at you. hopefully she'll understand.
