I think I am dumb. I cannot for the life of me figure out what size table cloth I need. How do I know this? I know the dimensions of my table, but how much bigger should the table cloth be so it drops over the sides?
What about a table runner?

Re: HOW DO YOU BUY A TABLECLOTH.
tablecloths come in standard sizes. For example, I always buy the 60 x 84 because my table is pretty big. A smaller 'kitchen' size table may need a 52 x 70. If I know it's something I will use my leaf with I will buy like a 60 x 108 (I think)
Oh and that's for oblong (rectangle) They also come in oval.

72 inches long 40 inches wide 36 inches high

Re: HOW DO YOU BUY A TABLECLOTH.
if u want a nice drop go with the 60x104....u might even be ok with 102.......anything more than 104 migh tbe too much. Id say start with the 60x104 if is not long enough the next one is usually 60x120.....def try the 104 ( or 102) if you want longer than you know to get the 120 if its too long you know to go 1 size smaller. If you go with the 104 length you will have 15 inches of extra fabric on either end. That's really a lot of fabric that someone could sit on or pull when they go to sit. You may want to get the 84 length

Oh noooo - what is the standard amount that you want to drop? If I go w/84, I'll only have 6 inches on each side.

Re: HOW DO YOU BUY A TABLECLOTH.
If people will be sitting and eating there, go with the shorter drop. 'average' is 8 inches anyway. If it's for looks only, then you will be okay with the longer. KWIM?

People will definitely be sitting and eating there. But, it is a pub height table, so it's rather high off the ground. What is KWIM?

Know What I Mean.
Don't you love all these problems we have to solve when we are adults!
Try just buying them both, putting them both on and then returning whichever one you don't like.

LOL I know, this is so absurd. And the part driving me the most insane is that I had been to a BBB registry advice page about buying tablecloths and now I can't even find it!
