Have to block hotel rooms for out of towners. How do I know what the rooms are like? What if they are cheesy? Do they show you them? Any good suggestions for Westbury area?

Re: How do you choose a hotel?
You're allowed to check out the rooms at most of the hotels. In fact, if they didn't allow you to do this, I would be wary!!!
I booked rooms at the Wingate Inn in Garden City. It's close by Westbury, your other option is the Garden City Hotel, but that's $$$$.
There are a few more hotels in the area that I'm sure I'm not thinking of right now....

Re: How do you choose a hotel?
I booked rooms at the Hilton Garden Inn Westbury. We checked out the rooms and they looked quite nice, especially the jr. suites. And the rates seem good. FM me for more details.

Re: How do you choose a hotel?
I blocked rooms at the Hilton Garden Inn and at the Marriot. I wanted to give everyone a choice because the Marriot charges more then the Hilton Garden Inn.

Blocked rooms at the Inn at Fox Hollow - it's literally next door to the venue, and the rooms are beautiful - little pricey b/c they're king suites...but convenience overpowers.

Re: How do you choose a hotel?
We blocked rooms at 2 hotels:
The LI Marriott in Uniondale because it is close to the shopping malls and has decent banquet accommodations should we decide to hold a brunch the next day. We were also given a more deluxe room at a lower rate there for the wedding night.
and
The Hampton Inn and Suites in Rockville Centre because it is in the next town over from the temple where we are having the wedding. I wanted to make sure that there was a hotel close enough to the location of the wedding in case of inclement weather.
We informed our out of town guests that even though the blocked room rates were less expensive than regular rates, that it may be to their advantage to book rooms at these locations OUTSIDE of the room blocks. AAA and AARP discounts are often cheaper the group rates reserved. One person already did that and said that was the case. Something to consider.

Re: How do you choose a hotel?
I don't think there's a timeline, but I wouldn't do it later than say 3 months before the wedding because you want to have the hotel information to go with the invitations.
Also some hotels are actually already booked!!! I called the Hamlet Wind Watch 2 months ago and they were booked already for the entire week of my wedding!!!
Also remember there's a Holiday Inn on Old Country Rd next to Chateau Briand that's supposed to be very nice.

I suggest checking out tripadvisor.com. It has reviews from regular people that have stayed in just about every hotel you can think of.

We blocked rooms at the LI Marriott in Uniondale. We also tried Wingate Inn, Hilton Garden Inn, and the Holiday inn, but none of those worked out.
