How do you clean your ring?

HI everyone!
Just wondering ,how do you suggest to clean rings? I really don't want to spend money on the electric one at moment, just a tooth brush, with what?

What do you suggest or do?
Thanks!

FH bought my ring at a private jeweler. I can take it back 2x per year for a free inspection and cleaning. I think some other stores have policies like that. Also, a jeweler gave me a bottle of liquid cleaner that you can dunk your ring in. If you go in a jewelry store and ask, they'll probably have some product available.

I bought this jewelry cleaner from target. Its called connoisseurs. They have one specifically for gold/diamond etc. It comes with the tray to dip it in the solution and a brush to clean/scrub it under warm water. I love it! Cheap and it works great !

My future sister in law is a jeweler which is actually where my FH got my ring. As part of a small 'engagement present', she gave me a cleaning solution and a diamond cleaning gel stick. I can't think of the brand for the life of me but I know it says Frank and Fran's on it which is the name of the jewelry store she works for in Wantagh.

Whenever FH and I are at the mall or near a jewelry store we go in and ask if they can steam it, usually they'll do it for free, especially if you start looking at wedding bands. They want your business. I bought a stick of gel cleanser at some point too. In a pinch last week I used a little bit of simple hand soap and warm water with a dispoable mascara brush. The bowl was absolutely clean and empty and after a soak for about 15 minutes, I could see a bunch of crud in the boal and more after I lightly scrubbed the setting. Of course I looked it up online before I did it to make sure it would be safe.

my jeweler told me to soak my ring in hot water with a little ammonia in it.. it gets out all the dirt that can't be reached with a tooth brush alone. Then I use the tooth brush and hot water to scrub after I soak it.. makes it look BRAND NEW!!!

Re: How do you clean your ring?

Thank everyone I will have to stop at a Jewelery store some time to do. I saw at walmart I think it was, a pretty nice cleaner made for rings. It was a bottle with brushes inside, and you would attach your ring to this stem like thing and move up and down,by grabbing on to a handle sticking out lid(bottle was like a large pill bottle filled with brushes). It had a bottle of jewelry cleaner also included. Does anyone have this for around house, or would you buy? Kind of like toothbrush idea in a bottle...

I just got the Connoisseur cleaner too and it works great! I also heard that a few drops of Dawn dish soap in warm water is another way to keep your ring nice and sparkly - and super cheap too! :)

I have gotten mine clean at the jeweler for special occasions -- especially the wedding (they did an intense cleaning for this).

When it starts to look a little dirty I usually boil water, put it on a skewer and place it at the top of the cup then wrap it in foil for 5minutes. The steam seems to help. So much so that the jeweler told me my ring was pretty clean when I wanted it done for the wedding.
