How do you deal

How do you deal

So.. I just told my mom that a fam. member asked if her son could bring his gf to the wedding since 2/4 of her son's can't attend due to soccer torn. at their colleges. I said yes because I had mixed feelings about not inviting her to begin with cuz he's 21/22 and they've been together for like... 5+ years. I've met the girl before and obv. her sons are my cousins so they're not just random people.
She flipped out (which is normal lately ) and not that I really care cuz I told the mother yes and I'm ok with it but I'm just tired of her getting mad when I make a decision she doesn't agree with. It also more then just mad... she acts as if I just killed someone.

Just remind her nicely but firmly that your in control of everything and she doesn't have to worry about thing. She should just sit back and relax because it'll help you enjoy planning your wedding more.

I have a Momzilla too, I have told her repeatedly, 'I am not stressing out over these stupid LITTLE TINY things, stop freaking out over things that do not matter'. Everything from my cardbox, to seating arrangements, to what hotel specific guests are staying at, to limos... just tell her CHILL in a firm voice lol.

At least there's hope - after my last fitting she's calmed down, so you can look forward to about 10 days of calm before your wedding where she'll relax when all the decisions are made!!

Wow! I don't get why she would freak out! What you did seems very fair to me.

I think you made the right choice in inviting his g/f.

is she mad because she's afraid other people will ask to bring dates now too?

Re: How do you deal

just calmly tell her that its your wedding and your decision...

then when she gets mad that you used the 'MY' word because she somehow thinks that 'john and marthas wedding' translates to 'john and martha and marthas moms wedding' just remind her that she was married before and had her time.

yup, I'm going through this too. lol

lets see, i had the 'diet' fight.. about a month ago (yup, cause I was bloated then too)

when are you starting your fittings
when i have all my under garments and shoes
well don't you think you should get them
that takes money and i have time, I just got my veil in and I'm going to order my shoes soon
well you should hurry in case you have to dye-it
dye what?
dye-it
DYE WHAT?
STOP EATING!!!!!!!!!!
oh diet...

my mothers on WW.. I'm not, my mentality is, yes, I'd like to be thinner... BUT I'm not going to give up on the things that makes me happy... food and snacks make me happy... now mind you, I'm not that big. I have big arms, starting to get a double chin and a little gut.. thats it. I have nice legs, a great asss and nice taytas... I'm okay with my body. SHES not.

then just yesterday.. SAME conversation.

Did she say why she was mad? Since your cousin is an adult and they have been together for a real long time, I think it's only the right thing to let her attend. And since the rest of his siblings couldnt make it...it balances out!

Re: How do you deal

Wow, your mom sounds JUST LIKE my mom!!

It's like I'm looking into the future because I KNOW something like this is going to happen with the way she's been with all this wedding stuff.

In the end, when stuff like this happens with my Mom, I just stand there, nod my head and then try to forget about it. What's done is done and her yelling doesn't mean anything.

As long as you think you made the right decision (which, IMO, you def did. I would have done the same), then try to let those 'Mom' moments roll off your shoulder.
