I am not part of their family yet so I don't want to start any crap but FH's bro has a big time prob. He drank a full bottle last night by himself, he has already been to AA.

You can't....they have to work it out for themselves. If he is bothering you I would just avoid him. He has to find his own way .....

Though more often than not, dealing with him will be a major frustration... you should try to be patient with him... it is a disease that's only cure is learned.

One piece of advice, don't be an enabler. Don't invite him over for drinking parties and do your best to not drink in front of him. If you're doing it, he will want to, and even if you know when to stop, it sounds like he doesn't, so don't encourage him to start. Other than that, there's not much you can do. Sorry!

all very good advice... MIL is a functioning alcoholic...drinks several glasses of wine a night and gets drunk every time. We all know it, DH and his sisters and FIL have tried addressing it....she refuses to think there is a problem. Her father was one too.
I tend to avoid her at night when she drinks. She forgets things...becomes manipulative.
