Famous people at your wedding?
Would you book a singer that was famous to perform?

As a good friend of mine put it when she heard that Oprah was going to appear at someones wedding as a surprise a few years ago:

Its MY day, and I want the attention on ME that day, not some famous person.

How famous could they be for 2 thousand dollars? Are you sure you got an accurate price.....most charge waaaaaay more than that for even just appearances, let alone performing. I agree with the pp about the Oprah statement. I remember watching something on youtube when Oprah showed up...the bride or whoever's party it was was upset because EVERYONE was fawning all over Oprah. That would piss me off.

i know this person...she usually charges a lot more. I cant say who she is b/c i promised I wouldnt say how much i may pay...but its definitely less than what she normally charges.

is it a house singer? im thinking it probably is bc i know others who didnt pay alot to have them perform at their wedding. Its not a bad price. many singers charge $100k and up and even alot more

i think it would be fun and worth it if the person was going to perform, not that you would just pay them to make an appearance...that i personally don't see a point to because people would know that you just paid them to show up unless you're good friends with the person...i've been to a bday party and benefits where comedians and singers were paid to perform and i always thought it was a nice touch, it never took away from the guest of honor or the cause but i've never seen it at a wedding though so i don't know i guess it would depend on how you feel if that person would 'outshine' you on your day or it would just be an added personal touch to your wedding...

Well I have been to a wedding where Angelo Venuto was the band and it was one of the best weddings I went to hands down and the bride was still the attention.
Then my friends went to a wedding and Judy Torres was a guest and all we got were text messages with them in a picture with her and they even had signed autographs. Then the question can be asked how much of the attention was on the bride??
It all depends, I would say go for it, if that what makes you happy. I would consider Marc Anthony appearing at my wedding to sing our wedding song!! LOL

yes this person is a singer...she usually charges upwards of 25k...since i am a friend, she would charge 2k...(i am getting her a limo to come perform...)

I second that!

Plus I would rather have people excited and talk about how much of a good time they had a the wedding than 'guess who was there'.
