the curves by me uses a thing that you hold onto for about 30 seconds. i know they also sell scales that you step on that somehow measure both your weight and your body fat %

the only truly accurate way is to immerse yourself in water and measure the difference in water height. of course, i have no idea how it really works, but i know that's the only true way.
the thing that pinches you is okay, and they also make a scale that you can put your height, weight, and what level of athletic activity you partake in, and it also gives a reading.

Yes, the calipers that pinch you are only about $30.00, the only real drawback is you need someone else to 'pinch' the fat for you.
I worked in a diet/exercise and food lab years ago and we used to water submerssion. It is the most realiable but very costly.
If you pick one way though, scale or calipers and stick with the some type you should be able to monitor progress.

the thing karen is talking about...
they have it at GNC stores... the guy had me do it, told me the results, ..and basically said at my age not to try their pills and just to do exercise..
