Mine did it for the first time over the weekend (we moved in together in November ). I think that it was one of the things that he decided to do to get out of vaccuming.

I've been telling him that certain things need to be done without my telling him to do them - so he made the bed, changed the roll, did dishes, etc. to NOT vaccum. Am I on to something?

He's usually good about it. But I'd put the new roll right next to the empty one and hopefully he'd see that maybe he should put it on the roll himself!

OMG You are lucky!!

I love my DH will all my heart but he is a SLOB!! He leaves food out on the counter, dishes on the table, in the living room, clothes on the floor, in the bathroom etc, never makes the bed, leaves the toothpaste cap off, the toilet paper roll empty, leaves wet towels on my side of the bed etc etc etc.. LOL

Honestly - instead of cleaning out a pot of older chili and putting it in the sink he threw it in the garbage! How lazy!!

I am working on him slowly but surely things are getting better. You are VERY lucky!

I almost passed out in shock! LOL

Sorry girls, my heart goes out to you DH is cleaner than I am. In fact, we're having our semesterly 7 hour cleaning spree on Saturday. We do everything! Every room of the apartment, windows, vacuuming, organizing, etc. Even though I love the results, he's always the one pushing for us to clean.

ETA: I'm embarrassed to say we're cleaning NOW in the summer because we missed our spring semester cleaning due to the wedding planning

My FH doesnt believe in the existence of the garbage can. When I tell you he leaves wrappers, empty containers, etc all over the house...he'll even leave it NEXT to the garbage but will not throw it in. He gets mad when theres no cereal in the box, and Im like well I thought you still had enough since its standing in its place. Dirty laundry - in the bathroom, and of course NEXT to the hamper. But you know what gets me the most...his BOOTS in our bedroom...I want to KILL him for that. Toilet paper...oh he'll get a new roll, but will just open it and place in on the floor. Gosh, I can go on and on ... but I still LOVE HIM!

Yeah, there are certain things we'll just have to accept. But I find the witholding method to be pretty good. So if he leaves a mess, you leave it too. Don't touch it. Clothes on the floor? Don't do his laundry.

Re: How do you get your man to:

This is how I would train my DH with the toilet paper roll

`1) when it runs out, leave the cardboard roll on the holder

2) get your own roll of paper and hide it somewhere next to the toilet (I have my cabinet I would use)

3) when he goes and everytime there isnt any paper....chance are he will eventually put a new roll on.

Its like I do in school....you gotta show them WHY they need to do it...not just do it for them.

Exactly! Just getting the roll and openeing it would be a step in the right direction..

Now actually putting it on the roller is another LOL

Re: How do you get your man to:

One time there was no paper left in the roll and none in the bathroom.

I got up to pee..no paper..I yelled for him to get me toilet paper..

It was 3am...he didn't do that again.
