How do you go about...

How do you go about...

...planning your own Bridal Shower?
Like I discussed in a prior post, no one in my family nor my BP has even mentioned it.
I very much would like a Tea Party. But how do I plan this? Just like I would any other party?

Ooohh a tea party!! I am going to have one of those. My mom and MOH are planning it but they're going to have it at Robinson's Tea Room in Stony Brook.

First, I would make sure 100% they aren't planning a shower for you. Maybe its just a surprise?

Then, get suggestions from girls on here for places to check out and price around.

Excellent point...thank you. How would you ask them? I feel like I shouldn't be asking

I would look up different Tea houses and see whic you like best.
Ask them if they do showers, if so how much, type of food, drinks ect ect.
OR
You can do it at your own house. Buy different Teas, pastries ect

Tea Party sounds really nice!

Im planning my own...I picked my venue and moved forward from there.

I'd just mention to someone (MOH, BM, Mom) that you are thinking about starting to plan your shower...see what happens next.

Def make sure no one already is on it and hasnt started the planning! A tea party is a great idea tho!

Definitely inquire with your BP. I approached my sister with a bridal shower guest list to make her life easier. You may want to do the same to open the dialogue... and give them a major hint if they haven't moved on this yet.

me of my BMs were trying to feel me out with questions beforehand though. I know its coming and they are hosting... but whatever it is... as long as they are there and actually doing this for me.... I know its from the heart and that is the BEST gift they can ever give me.

Re: How do you go about...

I planned my own 'ladies luncheon' and we had such a wonderful time. I only had about 20 people, and it wasn't bad planning at all! I found a place that I love going to for brunch and they had a $15 sunday brunch menu that I was able to book as long as we were under 20 people (over 20, and I would've had to choose 3 dishes for the menu instead of the usual 8 or 10 the place has) -- we even still got free unlimited mimosas!

We played a game that I got the idea from at a bridal store but then made my own version of called 'how well do you know the bride' and they all signed a plate to commemorate the day. We had little presents so we did that, and we also played bridal bingo. I had fun giving out little prizes too, and of course favors. Since we had such a small group, I personalized all the favors!

It was really a wonderful time. My mom couldn't plan a shower for me for medical reasons, and my MOH and BM lived out of state so it was just impossible. But they all came into the area for my luncheon -- we even went and shoe shopping and got manicures together after the brunch.

It was such a wonderful day and felt like a really lovely celebration.

If you have any specific questions, I'd be happy to help any way I can. Good luck with your planning!
