I have a co-worker who is the same level as everyone else in the office, but chooses to yell and get firm with other co-workers.
I am new to working with people in this type of environment. (read:civilians) since my previous employment was the military. Even in the military people spoke to you on a coversational level. I am to the point where I would like to pull out my military personality on her, just so she might think that maybe she isn't better...does that make sense??

Re: How do you handle pushy co workers?
I think I'd go for a more passive aggressive approach, saying something like, 'Pat, I can see that you are very upset about this. Would you like to discuss this a bit later when you've had a chance to calm down?' How annoying for you to have to deal with that!! I'm guessing she doesn't actually think she is better -- behavior like this is usually about insecurity. Someone who is comfortable with their superiority has no need to yell!

I have one those here... thankfully she is on anther floor now so I don't deal with her as much.
When I did have a run in, I just handed it right back to her. She didn't like it much and quite frankly I didn't give a ____.
