This may seem like an odd question...but I was just curious how to make an acquaintance more of a friend? Like I have a decent amount of friends but to be honest I feel like I might be 'growing out' of some of them if that makes any sense. I love them but I wouldnt mind making some new friends. I feel like I was a lot better at making friends in hs and college and now its harder for some reason. I have this 'acquaintance' that I see occasionally that is friends with another friend that I have. I really dont see her too often except for when the 3 of us get together for dinner ...and we only do that because we are both friends with the other girl. I'm friendly enough with her that I just emailed her on facebook asking if she wants to meet up for dinner with the other friend who just had a baby...so I figured it would be nice if we both took her out to celebrate. Anyway- I really like this girl...she is really fun and she is married so we could do couple things as well. We are all going to be getting together for dinner in the next week or two...but how do I ask this girl to hang out after that w/o coming across as a crazy weirdo stalker person....i'm NOT good at stuff like this....and I think I used to be a lot more confident lol. Should I ask both girls if they want to go bowling or something with our FH's?? Any ideas? TIA.
what?!

Why are you being rude? If you don't have anything helpful to say, just don't respond.
To the OP--I understand your situation. I think if you're taking the mutual friend out to dinner to celebrate her baby, maybe you can ask the other girl to go shopping together one day to pick up a nice gift for her? Or maybe if you all hang out with your DH/FH's, they will find some things in common (maybe they're both Knicks fans) and you can invite them to a game one day. Its always easier when you bring guys into the mix...they make friends much easier than females do!!!!
Good luck!!!!

ITA agree with all of this (including the rude part...)
I really understand what you mean, I've found it a lot harder to naturally make friends now that I am out of school. I guess the best strategy I've found (as silly and direct as it might sound) is 'Hey, I was going to go do ____ and I thought you might want to come. What do you think?' if they are at all interested in being friends, they'll either say 'Sure!' or 'Ohhh I'm really busy that day, but how about ____?' If they only say 'I'm sorry...I'm busy that day' with no other opening...I'd move on. They're not interested.

I agree.. just make small gestures, like inviting them somewhere...
