I don't know how it is supposed to be done, but I am doing Mr. and Mrs. Smith or Mr. Brian Smith & guest.I like having the titles in front of the names.

If you know the guest name, would you put his or her name?

I think I will put the guest name if I know it so it might look like this...

Mr. Brian Smith and Jennifer

Is this ok if I dont know the guests last name?

Proper etiquette (sp):

if it's a married couple:

Mr. and Mrs. Brian Smith
(The woman looses her first name)

If it's a single person

Ms. Jane Smith and Guest
or
Mr. Brian Smith and Guest.

What if you know the guests 1st name only?

What do you mean...the 'Guest's' first name only? THen I would just put Guest.

If you only know the person invited to your wedding's first name...I HAVE NO IDEA That would be bad!

This way of addressing placecards is what Flowerfield told me...of course you don't have to do it this way, but this is considered proper etiquette...not that anyone will even notice.

Oppss...I just reread your post...you really mean the 'guest'...yeah, I'd just leave it at guest if you only know their first name.
