How do you read this darn thing??

Sorry ladies, I'm not ready to out myself yet, but have a question.

I took a First Response HPT and I get one very pink line and another lighter pink line. What gives? Is it possible that a negative test will give you one very pink and a second pale pink line?

Other facts: More tender than normal brea sts, AF is 3 wks overdue(never one to get reg periods tho'), last 3 days bad cramping as if AF was on her way over. Very tired, sometimes lightheaded.

Is this in my head???

No, it sounds like you could be PG for real.
Did you take the HPT in the evening? That could explain the 'lighter' pink line - the pregnancy hormones in your urine are weaker at night. Try taking the test with your first morning urine - that's when the hormones are strongest.

Yes I did take one at night because I was too anxious! But, I did take another first thing in the morning, and I had the same result. A second pale pink line. I had to blink several times and look away, I thought I was seeing double!

Why wouldn't it be as bright as the first line?

I guess its time to call OBGYN!

Reading those sticks left to right, the first line is your test line and the second line is the control line. If your test line is coming in darker, then by all means get that appt.!! Good Luck!

Mine was real light too, and I was certainly PG so sounds good for you Make that appt.

That is EXACTLY what happened to me. I actually tested 2 more times that week. A pale second pink line means you are still early on but sounds super positive to me

My first test looked negative to me at first so I threw it in the bathroom trash. Two days later I took another test and when I was waiting I pulled the first one out of the trash and what do you know? There was a pale pink line on it that I must have missed the first time. A line is a line- especially if it shows up in the recommended time period for the test. Keep us posted!!!

I also got a faint second line and tested a few more times just to 'make sure'. Sounds like you are PG!!!
