We are trying to establish a system, but it's difficult. We'll get one though.

Re: How do you split the chores?
this chore thing makes me laugh..When we moved in together 2 years ago we split everything...after year 1 I did about 3/4's of the chores...2 years to date..I pretty much do EVERYTHING with the exception of the cooking..I REFUSE (with the exception of the occassional pasta dish)

Re: How do you split the chores?
Without ever discussing it, we definitely have developed our respective chores. He does all the cleaning, vaccumming, taking out the garbage (he is good at cleaning and I suck at it). I do all the cooking and dishes and bill paying. It works for us.

he does garbage, laundry and groceries.
i do all the cleaning and most of the cooking.
it seems to be working out okay, but he always complains that his chores all involve leaving the house

Re: How do you split the chores?
I always thought taking out the garbage and locking up the house at night was the hubby's duty - i guess since this is what my dad does every night before bed. SOMEHOW i always get stuck with the trash and locking up and i hate it. He will let the trash sit there and overflow and i hate that. He can also fall asleep and go to bed without locking up - i guess bc he grew up in a rural area. I did not. I grew up in the city and that is a no-no!
But I will say he actually LIKES to vacuum, mop and windex etc....he's fanatical about that. So he usually does that stuff. I do the laundry, cook dinner usually, clean the bathroom, take care of the pets, iron, etc...

Splitting the chores? *** is that?
My FW does it all. The only significant thing I do is make sure all the bills are paid. I also cook more often than she does.
We do our laundry separately because she does hers in the basement laundry room in our building. I pay and have my laundry picked up and delivered for me. Ahhh the good life.

I have the most amazing, progressive minded FH in the world... we clean together once a week and split the cleaning... but while I've been studying for the bar, he cleans without me... he also does the laundry... cooks for me every night (YUMMMM) and sometimes even makes lunch for me for the next day... gotta love Israeli men!!!

HEY NOW, my Italian man does the same. But we don't split, he just does them. And I'm unemployed.

Re: How do you split the chores?
My Irish guy does laundry, cooks and cleans too!! I've been feeling guilty for not picking up some slack. So today I'm cleaning the apt. Of course, this is because it's crappy out. If it was nice out, I'd be at the beach!! I'm bad.

We're supposed to split chores???
OK Seriously, I do it all....DH cooks 1/2 the time, but I do everything else....I know it sounds mean & B!tchy, but I do not like the way DH cleans, so I just do it. It takes me a lot less time to do it, too.
