How do you store your spools of ribbon?

I have tons of them and I did have them in boxes but I thought there might be a more creative way. Our house has a small room in the basement that was the former owner's darkroom so I'm turning it into my crafting & gift wrap room. It has lots of storage and outlets and those boards with all the holes in them on the walls where you can hang things.

I have seen them stored on a dowell rod between two shelf brackets - they are free to spin and easy to add on or remove colors. I don't have a picture but think of a curtain rod set up.

my mom had my dad make her a contraption...and I hope I can explain it...


I was a stand with a dowel...and she 'threads' the ribbon holders through the dowel...so then she can spin them off a little easier and they are all in one place...(think what Macy's has for their bracelet holders)


If you build it yourself you can make it any size you need
