How does mail get lost??? (small vent)

And where does it go if the person never gets it & i never get it back????

DH is down in VA visiting his sis & calls me to ask if i ever sent them a TY card for their gift.....apparently his Mom mentioned something about how SIL didn't get one (great, his family is probably saying how rude i am when i am NOT)....i sent it to them as soon as i got their gift ( a month before our wedding).......her inlaws got the 2 TY's i sent them....figures! ..freakin post office! I have always send TY's all my life...i wonder who else didn't get one now

I SO know what you mean! We've had 2 different people already tell us they have not gotten our invite... and they were sent the very same day, to the same address, from the same PO as others in the same family, who received theirs! I don't get it either!

makes me wonder if that's what happened to RSVPs that were missing...

DITTO: JUST two that weren't received: one to my SISTER & the other to one of our best friend's. They never came back to us...even though the return address was on there.

One of my aunts tells me she sent out my RSVP months ago. so I asked her about it again later she says she Oh I found it in my house I thought I sent it out.

Yeah right.

I had a few people tell us they never got their invitations! I was so upset! Because they didn't get them and they weren't returned to me, so I'm wondering where they ended up.

I dunno--my aunt called my mom to say that she never got my shower thank you. I KNOW I sent one. Now I have to send a second and it looks like I never did before.

Words cannot adequately express just how stupid some of the postal employees are: FH and I were at the door when mail was delivered. mailman had a box in his hand and asked us if we knew who xx was and where they lived so he could deliver said box. Fh suggested - - why don't you look at the address on the box and take it there.
BTW it was house directly across the street and he has been delivering mail to those people for at least 2 yrs. DUH.

FYI I get most of my mail - - but not all of it, missed tax forms last yr, a rebate check, magazine; a check this yr , credit card bill (kind important) plus assorted news letters form the town. and I get mail for the neighbor across the street, mail for the people on the next block over w the same address and every now and then just a wrong piece of mail that doesn't match name street or number! This happens at least once a month and usually more. It's to the point when the postmaster hears my name his reaction is ' what did he (mailman) do now?'

I still suspect that some of the mail never even makes it to the local offices. And they can't check it and I've been told that I can't and it's no use to try to comlain to higher authorities. What a racket. Rates go up, mail is regularly lost and there's no one to complain too. Pray to get those little RSVP card. Pary I say. That's your only alternative. And I have no answer where the lost mail goes to. Probably with that other mismatched sock in the dryer!

Okay i can chime in here...I work in a postal processing facility . I have to say that yes, there are idiots working within the postal system (there are idiots working in every job so its no different) HOWEVER, contrary to popular belief alot of mail gets damaged because of OTHER customers. People lie about things they are mailing...I cant count the number of busted bottles of wine and liquor that leak all over other peoples mail, taking with it addresses and anything else written or printed on the envelopes/packages. If your mail is in a container along with a box full of (insert all of the brainless things Ive seen people mail here) if it breaks open...you get the idea. Ive seen boxes full of wedding invites (from the same bride) all with the seals open, as if they had never even been sealed...me and another girl glued them all back together, we have a department just for repairing damaged mail. Not all of us postal workers morons we usually torture all of them to make sure they dont come back. HTH

Oh and mail that never finds its owner goes to what I believe is called a dead mail facility. Whenever I mail a package, I make sure that I slip the address inside as well as writing it on the outside, that way if it opens up it can still find its way.
