Chateau Briand, I am going here tomorrow I'll let you know how it is. Chateau La Mer,The Meadow Club are on my list as well. I know both Lombardi's are pricey....Villa told me 90 for a Fri nite in March of 09, too high for me
but, I have been there and it is great!!!! Swan Club as well, 3 weddings and counting ,lol. That is my only reason for not going there. The Metropolitan- My FMIL went there for a wedding and she loved it. Good luck!!!

I narrowed it down by eliminating the places that were too high per plate. (for me)

I was just at Danfords today for brunch! It's very nice, but I'm not sure how they would do a wedding there. I love it though because my fiance proposed right outside of it! I think we are going to stay there the night of our wedding!

Lombardis has great food. I've actually never heard anything abd about it.
I'm partial to the East Wind because that's where I am getting married but I've heard great things about a lot of the places that you are looking at Take pictures when you go!
Are you looking at the Inn, Country Gardens or Estate at the East Wind?

Re: how does narrowing it down...
Me and my fiancee can highly recommed Chateau Briand, all the way!!!! A good friend just got married there this June, 'kristyrussell', it was the best wedding we have ever attended, food, service cocktail hour and everything, she is really picky and all went so perfect and looked perfect for her, so good luck with your plans, We also have to decide as well, since she is a good friend we now want to have it somewhere different then her, maybe chateau la mer, we went for a tasting recently there too and fell in love with that place as well..

Re: how does narrowing it down...
FH's brother got married at Lombardi's on the Sound. I worked there for about 5 minutes in college and let me tell you firsthand, the stories about how awful they treat there staff ARE TRUE. I had to quit because I physically could not take the stress of that place. Because of that, I would defnitely not get married there or Villa. Just my personal choice.
When FBIL got married there, they got a great price for the 4th of July in 2004, right when they first opened. I thought it was very nice, but not for me.

okay so... we decided to take Danford's off the list after looking at pictures... its too freakin nautical for me. lol.
so the new list is
Chateau Briand Chateau La Mer East Wind Caterers (not sure which one, Lisa... i have to do more research) Giorgios Lombardi's on the Sound Majestic Gardens The Meadow Club The Metropolitan Swan Club Villa Lombardis

Yeah I hear you. I know so many people who have gotten married there, through my parents friends, and just in general. The food is simply the best. They don't stop serving you! and they're white glove service! The food and the portions are amazing, and forget about the cocktail & Venise Hr! I have not and NEVER WILL see a cocktail hour and a venetian hour as big as VILLA LOMBARDI'S! so to me, 'REPUTATION IS EVERYTHING' !!! And my mom's friend worked ay Villa Lombardi's for a short time helping out, catering and she loved it there. She only left because she was going back to school. I see NOTHING wrong with how they treat their staff and they pay very well. I may even get a job there ;o) So to me, Villa Lombardi's was the best choice for food, service, beauty, excellence, and professionalism. I had not 1 problem with Villa Lombardi's during my wedding planning and the day of.
One of my mom's friends got married at Lombardi;s on the sound and they were AMAZING as well. no complaints there by her either!
I could complain about a ton of other halls and weddings that we've been to over the last few yrs and Villa Lombardi's and Lombardi's on the sound isn't one of them.
