ideally, i want people to arrive at the venue beginning at 6pm and our ceremony starts at 6:30pm.
If the hotel is 20 minutes away, how does that work? does the shuttle pick up the first group of guests at 5:15 from the hotel, drop them off at 5:35-ish, then get the next group of guests?
that means a bunch of people will be at the venue when i arrive in my wedding gown at 5:45pm. and there's only one entrance that i know of... was hoping to avoid that scenario.
p.s. and what are the people who get there early going to do for an hour before the ceremony starts?!?

how the shuttle works depends on the hotel and you should call them and ask them the specifics... as for early guests it depends on your RH, sometimes there are hospitality areas where they will serve coffee/water and cookies or sometimes RH halls dont have room to accommodate and early people end up lingering in the lobby.

You have to call up your hotel and work out the shuttle schedule with them. They are the ones that will set it all up based on how many people you have staying at the hotel and what time the CH starts and the reception ends.
I am going to request that an early shuttle be available to immediate family only so that they can be bought over befpore the start of CH to take pictures and get them out of the way so FH and I can enjoy our CH.

i believe my hotel told me they would figure out timing when they know how many guests are staying. if the shuttle only needs to make one trip it will obvi leave closer to start time but if it has more guests it leaves earlier.

my hotel told me to figure out the times for myself. they were about 15 min away from the hall, so you have to figure how many can fit in a shuttle, how many are staying at the hotel and are taking the shuttle and decide from there. I had 40 rooms at 2 hotels, in total... only ONE room was booked.. and they didn't use the shuttle.
but DH and I did, leaving the reception. All we had to do was tell them what time to be there.

Are you booking the shuttle through your hotel or on your own? If you are using your hotel shuttle they should help you coordinate pick up times. If you are booking on your own I would first speak to your reception hall and see if they have a hospitality suite your gusts can wait in before your ceremony. If they do I think doing 2 pickups will be ok. If they don't I would try to schedule only one pickup close to the time of your ceremony (thats if everyone can fit in one shuttle!)

we're booking the shuttle on our own. we'll probably have about 40-50 people that will need to get from the hotel to the venue. if we do a smaller shuttle, it'd need to make two trips, but then half the group would get there super early, and the other half would get there just in time for the ceremony.
there is a hospitality for the guests that arrive early, but it's right in the lobby. so i'll have to walk past all those early arrival guests in order to get up to the bridal suite when i arrive. i was *hoping* none of the guests would see me before the ceremony...
