How early

do you have to start looking for your wedding gown? I dont know how early is too early for this.

I have been having such a hard time trying to figure out what to do next. It is like everything is at a standstill now because it is too early to do alot of things.

I think it depends on the designer. Some designers can have a dress in 3 months others can take almost a year. I ordered my dress (maggie sottero) at the end of January and they are telling me it will be in around the new year. If you find a designer you like i would try calling around to see what they recommend.

totally depends on the designer.
Macy's told me i'm fine if i order Demetrios from them in September.
Mary's gowns usually take 3 months to get in...

I'm an October bride too and I plan to start looking at the end of this month. Have you started looking at stuff online that you'd like to try on? Make sure you call the salons to be certain they have that dress in their stores. Just because a salon says they have a certain designer doesn't mean they have that particular dress.

it is never too early to start looking. you might find that dress immediately or it might take a few trips

Yea I guess you are right......I figured it is better to go early too but I am so afraid that nothing is going to look good on me unless I lose some weight first........

I picked mine out about 3 years ago lol i ordered it in june i would have done it sooner but i had to wait for the $$ lol

i feel like you can look as soon as you get engaged, whats the harm....its just looking and checking them out see what styles you like and what fits your body best...plus its SO MUCH FUN! my wedding is june 08 i ordered my dress in april i think?

I say as soon as you want. I ordered my the day after my 1 year mark. they say give up to 9 months depending on the designer.

well, I just ordered mine today and I was told that it could come in as late as May...I am getting married 1st week in July...HTH

we didn't set a date yet but when we do the wedding will probably be within 18 months or less - so i plan on trying on some dresses at the end of this month. we are visitng my parents in florida so me and my mom are going to start looking - if i do happen to find something that i like i can always find a bridal salon to order it from up here :)

I actually ordered my dress already, they said that it will be in next July/August. However, they arent putting into production until January. My dress is a Jim Hjelm. i am having something done in three weeks so i have to go back to get remeasured in December and timing wise i am doing just fine. Your wedding is a week before mine, it doesnt hurt to atleast start to look. i am picky, so i thought it would take me a lot longer to find one but it didnt

I ordered my wedding gown almost a year before my wedding date. I would start browsing stores now.

I ordered my gown in April and I just got my post card yesterday saying my gown is in. So it took 4 months but I also told them my wedding date is Oct 2008

i don't think it is ever too early. I thought I wouldn't have a hard time finding a dress, especially since I had it picked out of a magazine like 2 weeks after we got engaged, but when i went to try it on, the style wasn't right for me... it took quite a few trips to finally find the one!
