I didn't do STD's though, should I mail them even earlier than that since my date is still within the holiday period (vacations, etc.). And only my friends know the date, my parents refuse to tell our family friends (which is a large bulk of the guest population) because they don't want their friends to ask them a million questions about the wedding

nooo dont mail them out earlier than 3 months seriously...more than half the people will put it aside thinking they have plenty of time and end up losing it...I think 2 months is fine

i plan on doing it 3 months in advance because my wedding is Thanksgiving weekend and I know some of our guests usually go away to visit family for the weekend. So i want to give them time in advance to come back for the wedding.

2 months is fine. I got an invitation to a wedding in georgia that was 3 months away.

my wedding is going to be Memorial Day weekend-- and I was thinking I would have to send my invites out early as well=== especially since so many people go away that weekend...
but i still have 2 yrs and i know the word of mouth will definitely go around
(OH i am not doing STD's just incase i cant invite certain people and then i gave them a STD so it would be rude to not invite someone who you gave an STD too so..)

I heard 6-8 weeks in advance. You can send out STD's now if you want, I don't think it's too late

I'm going to do about 8-10 weeks. I have some out of town people that need to make a reservation at the hotel by a month before the wedding and the way that my family is taking forever to respond to the engagement party i'm going to have to write on the hotel info they have to do it by a certain date.

When I first joined the website I had a lot of trouble reading STD and thinking it was save the date, I kept reading it as sexually transmitted disease and then I thought damn these girls are nasty

2-3 months is plenty of time. Make sure it's atleast 1 month before the RSVP date. this way it gives them time to get the invite. Espically around xmas.
