Do I have to put money down on the rooms or do my guests pay when reserving a room?
Hmmm...any info would really help
TIA

Re: How exactly does
The guests pay for their rooms, usually at a discounted rate. Some hotels will hold you financially responsible if a certain min. amount of rooms arent booked, but some wont. HTH

THIS
Most hotels won't hold you financially responsible, so make sure you pick one that won't!

Re: How exactly does
In my agreement they are holding 50 rooms for my Wedding until April-29th (A month before my wedding) for a discounted rate. After April-29th they drop the block and it's regular pricing, whichever rooms weren't used are put back into their database as open. They shouldn't charge you anything except the room your are staying in if you choose to stay there that night.

No.. The hold is basically in their system. So no one else can make reservations for X amount of rooms.

I wouldn't put it on your card though, mine never asked for my cc. Why do they need it?

Re: How exactly does
it just puts a certain amount of rooms 'on hold' for your guests at a discounted rate... be sure to ask if you have to pay for unused rooms (my hotel does not charge me for unbooked rooms)-

Re: How exactly does
for our hotel (Courtyard Marriot) we did not need to put any money down to hold the rooms. We started out with a block of 10 rooms. Once those are filled up, than they will add more rooms to the block. We are not responsible for any rooms not booked under the block by the cutoff date (one month before the date). We also got a discount on the Bridal Suite for the night which we took advantage of.
If 10 rooms are booked, we get free shuttle service for the evening.
If 15 rooms are booked, we get a free room for the night.
Also, they offered us some package deals on day after brunches or lunches if we wanted to take advantage of them. They will also keep the bar opened later for you if they want at no cost, but it does close at 1am.

my hotel block said that if I CANCELLED the entire block a certain amount of time prior to the date, i am responsible for half of the rooms which is why I had to give my CC.
