How far ahead....

I know this question has been asked before, but how far ahead are STD's supposed to go out?

Also I have no idea on how to get addresses on the envelopes, do I just write them on there????

I'm going to send them out just before the 10 month mark. I'll probably print up nice labels so I can keep track easier. I was going to originally do calligraphy but I think I'll save that for the invites.

What program are you doing the labels on? I had just read on the knot that you should send it on the 6 month mark... im like ugh for that you just wait for the 4 months and send out regular invites!!

1 year mark and I'll probably go to Staples and get Avery labels & do it myself.

I'm going to send them out between 12-10 month mark. I will use the Avery clear labels for addressing them. I think they look nicer than the regular white ones.

I'm sending mine around approx 10 months before the wedding. My friend had an issue when she sent hers out a year before and someone thought they had missed the wedding (not realizing it was for the following year)

My FMIL fell into the same trap this past fall and the wedding was out of state. She planned a whole weekend getaway for this wedding only to find out it was for the following year

I sent mine at the 10 month mark (wanted to do it at the 1 year mark but kept delaying) and I gave FH the task of printing the addresses directly onto the envelopes, which was good practice for our straggler/B-list invites.

My advice- be VERY conservative about whom you send these to. A lot can change

I plan to send them out this summer...so it will be right around the one year mark. I like receiving the STD's early so that I can plan ahead for people's weddings. I am a planner!
