for a rehearsal? MOH is a teacher, L'il sis bridesmaid will be going back to college, and the wedding is October 12, so we thought we'd have the rehearsal in late August. It's not a big thing, just the wedding party and a barbeque, but it's pretty far ahead of time - the point of a rehearsal is lost if no one remembers it. The officiant doesn't do rehearsals, btw....well, she will for an extra $180, which is absurd considering she already costs $500, so her schedule is not a consideration. I can tell people where to walk and what they'll be holding.

Do you need to do a rehearsal ahead of time, or can you just have everyone together for a fun BBQ while they're still in town and then do a quick run-through right before the ceremony? i guess it depends if you and FH plan to see each other before hand. if not, then i don't think it's too early, but you'll definitely need to give them some reminders on the day of.

We're doing ours the night before... Is that not an option for you?

Hey date twin!!!
I think almost two months before the wedding is too far ahead, personally. I agree that you can have your get together/bbq etc, but the rehearsal itself - probably not. I think you can do a run through either the morning of the wedding or the night before - nothing formal.

I think 1 to 2 weeks before is fine. Otherwise, people are going to totally forget what you told them 2 months ago.

I'm such an idiot - we're seeing each other before the ceremony for pics anyway, and we have the place all day. I guess I just had it locked in my head that it was supposed to be a certain way or something. Of course, the idea never occured to my groom, mother, father, or sisters either. Thanks all.

we did our quick run thru about 20 min. before the ceremony started! (we did pics b4 hand too)
honestly, IMHO i think rehearsals are totally unnecessary.....it's pretty straight forward stuff. so i'm sure you'll be just fine!
