How far do we have to travel...

out on the island to find a home with woods in the backyard??? Crazy question, I know... I LOVE the area where my boss lives. Its in Melville, has woods, houses arent on top of one another... gorgeous area but $$$$$$$... So I'm thinking there must other areas not so far out that are woodsy... Anyone have any ideas for me?

Pay no mind to my nuttiness... I'm just tired of searching online where I dont even know what the right areas to look in are

Are you okay with living more out east? One of my BM and her husband live in Wading River and they have tons of privacy (woods) around them. As far as I know it wasn't too expensive either, AND they bought it before the housing market dropped.

def too far... FH's coworker lives in medford and it takes him like 1 1/2 hrs to get to work (jericho) in the morn and also same traffic going back of course... so to live even further than that... def a no go for FH

FH and I are looking into Setauket/East Setauket, and there are TONS of trees and quaint little blocks. I don't know about woods. Three Village schools. . .and you can get in there now under $400K!!!!

As for the Setauket/East Setauket, some parts are definitely older and not well kept. Not older as in 1800s and charming, but like 1960's and skeezy.

I'll be honest, because this is an area we're looking in as well, and you're going to be well in to the 400s, like mid ot upper, to be in the nicer parts of these areas, read, wooded, and be able to find a livable home that won't require another 100k in upgrades.

Maybe Kings Park might be a good fit for you. But the same rules kind of apply...the nicer areas with bigger properties are more money., but I think on average less than 3 village still.

All around the north shore of Nassau (above 25A) has a lot of wooded areas...you just are going to pay to get a place there.

I was just going to suggest this. My cousins live in Ridge and their backyard is woods galore, lovely house and super affordable.

I live in N. Massapequa on the Farmingdale border. My house doesn't have woods in the backyard, but we do have the Bethpage State Park, so I have a park in my backyard
