When did you girls order your wedding gowns (for those of you who did)? I heard you should do it about a year in advance. I am going looking soon, just cuz I think its going to take me a while to find something!
Also, when did you start looking with your bridesmaids and how far in advance did you order theirs as well? Mother of the bride?
Thanks, as always!

Re: How far in advance?
I ordered mine in February and just came in like 2 weeks ago. Still haven't had the chance to go see it though.

Re: How far in advance?
Hey for me since my wedding isn't until August '05 I am waiting until the new 2005 line of spring summer dresses come out which is not until January or Febuary of 2005. Since I already found a great Bridal salon where I am going to get my dress from I asked them and that is when they told me it is the best time to start looking for my dress. SO HAPPY SHOPPING

Not only did I order my dress already, it came in already But it doesn't matter because they store it for me.

Re: How far in advance?
I am going to start looking for mine in September. The BMs I am going to wait until January b/c I really want tea-length and am hoping there might be some more that I can get both here and in CA by then.
Speaking of which - anyone know a good place for BM dresses that I can get both here and in CA? I was thinking of David's since i have never had a problem with BM dresses from there, but am always open to suggestions
I ordered mine about a month or so ago because when I tried it on it was 'the one' and I knew I would nt find anything better. Its a Maggie Sottero and they take about 8 months to come in, then the alteration time too. For the BM dresses, I ordered them last weekend and they are going to take 3 months to come in and then up to 5 weeks for alterations. My mother is going to order a dress and she has been looking for a while but nothing yet. My FMIL is just getting one from Macys or wherever, nothing to order.

Re: How far in advance?
So I guess I will start looking soon, and I will ask as well when the best time to get a fall style dress is... I will probably take my BMs over the winter break! Thanks all! Any other advice would be great!

Did you go to Alfred Angleo here in Cali?(that's were I live too!) I love their bridal gowns and they are inexpensive but beautiful. RK bridal in NY carrys them as well as bridesmaids so I would check them out first.

Re: How far in advance?
Thanks. Actually I am in NY, my sister will be in CA when it is time to order dresses, so maybe an alfred angelo is the way to go. I basically just want her to be able to try it on and we will order all from NY so the colors match.

Re: How far in advance?
I'm ordering mine today (yippee ) which is almost exactly 8 months before my wedding.
BMs - they're picked out and i have the swatch for the florist but one my my BMs just had a baby at the end of June so we're going to wait to order (for measurements' sake) until end of September/beginning of October.
MOB - my mother refuses to consider anything until she loses 15lbs so who knows with her.

Re: How far in advance?
Aga, RK Bridal has Maggies. But they know them by #, not by the name of the gown. If you go there, take a few minutes to match the names to the #'s and make a list. The assistants will not do that for you- at least, mine didn't.
