How Far in advance do we have to book Photographers????
I have been looking at a few...... and getting ready to make appts.. but I am waiting to have my RH booked on WEDNESDAY when we do our food tasting.. just kind of the 'want to have the contract in my hand for that date' feeling

since your date isnt on a holiday weekend... i'd say you have much more time to decide on that... i contacted 1 photog and they made it seem like my date was wayyyyy too far away to be worrying about a photog now

I have my first appointment next week with Thomas Paul. I would start looking soon. Duet told me they are booked for most of 2009, including my day.

i think the prob there is that duet is over-commercialized

there asre a select few photogs that i want, so as soon as i finally decide on a rh and book a date, im def going to book my photog asap before they are taken for my day

You have time...I was saying in another post just now how its better to have someone you are 100% sure with and did your research. If you didn't have time i would say to hurry up but there is no real reason to rush...whats more important to you, having a contract in your hand right now or having the photographer that is perfect for you. Ive been on these boards for a little while now and ive seen past brides who said, oh i wish i did more research bc they end up seeing all these other photographers and then realize thats more the style they would've liked.
Alot of people at first don't know exactly the style they are looking for or havent found someone that WOW's them and their work to really capture them. I had looked at TONS of photographers sites and it was always like oh thats nice oh another pretty picture and after a while none stood out more than the other and there was nobody i was like OK THATS IT about. I saw one person at a bridal show and said well they were so nice and helpful and they do have nice pictures so i'll probably book them...i set up an appointment but luckily it wasnt for a few weeks since we were busy at that time, in the meantime i did see the photographers work that had that IT factor for me and i never went to the other appointment and found the photographer that is perfect for what i want

If youre going to use your photographer for both your e-pics and your wedding then I would start looking now. A friend of mine used the photog for e-pics and said she would 'wait' till the wedding was closer... but when it came time, her date was booked... :(

I would be as soon as you can only because you can lock in this years rates. If that is not a concerned for you then I would say before spring of next yr

I booked mine in July....i just knew I wanted him and booked.... just to have it done and pics are so important to me so I wanted to have that locked in.

I am in the process of looking for one now, just so that I can get this years rates and begin paying for it now.
Typically the most expensive things on your budget will be

I booked it 2 years in advanced. But now I'm looking for a second photographer and I'm freaking out b/c I feel like I have to do it SOON!

Some photogs are not even booking for 09 yet - AG and Blue Daisy for instance.
I went to speak with Autumn Lin - AMAZING! But I am still waiting to see when AG starts booking b/c she is my number 1

well you might want to book now so that you have this years prices not next year when they prices go up and also there are alot of 09 brides booked with photog already as you see with the RH

I agree with people who say that its good to get this years rates, now this is great if you already know EXACTLY who you want but dont rush your choice and book just to do it by the end of the year to get this years rates, some photographers dont change the price much from year to year.

I booked my photographer already and I got this years prices and after looking and researching with other photographers, we were happy with our decision.

i havent really done anything yet, besides RH and church. but im getting phone calls from sooooo many venders, i think i should jump on it asap, like you girls said, its better to lock into this years rate and start payin it off now. but i feel like the problem with all of this is what if the photog, dj, ..... gets fired or quits and then you get stuck with someone thats not good?

I booked now for this years rates, plus alot of my photographers dates for 09 were being taken already so I didn't want to stall and miss out on having him. At least you getter a better price if you book earlier than later!

thinking of booking some appointments for december.. would love to try and get the 07 prices.. but I don't want to rush either..... because pics mean ALOT to us.. I am a picture fanatic.. always have my camera
