I am having my first make-up trial this Sunday. As far as hair, I am going to wait to see what kind of head piece I am getting before I go.

the earlier the better b/c it may take several trials with several people to get your desired look.

don't worry about what people say about you doing things early. I got this too when I had all the major vendors booked withing two months months. they all said I have time. Well, good thing I did, because last summer my mother was diagnosed with Cancer and planning was literally at a stand still for almost 7 months. You never now what the future holds or what unexpected things may arise. If you are certain about your decision, go ahead with them. It' 'll just be less for you to have to do later on. I must say that if I didn't get all of my little things done then, there would be no way I would have the time for them now!!

There is no such thing as 'Too early' in my opinion. I say get the major vendors booked, Hall, Photo, DJ/Band, etc... and the rest is up to you. When I first got engaged I was not even thinking about booking anything yet, but saw how fast places get booked. Some vendors were booking 08' weddings already.
What I can say is take your time with picking people and don't feel pressured. That is why I would say start looking so you have the time to be as picky as you want.

My sister is a phenominal makeup artist, that works out of a salon and privately.. so I booked her, obviously, BEFORE I even got engaged!!

My hair.. since I am still growing it out, probably won't do a trial until Jan/Feb 2007 for my April 2007 wedding.. since my hair will be at the length it's going to be at for the wedding..

I was going to start looking in October for makeup since I will know what my skin tones will be from the summer. Maybe I should start earlier...

Im not going to get a makeup trial until a few months before. Im going to get a hair trial at the end of july only bc im viewing my dress then, and i as so lost as to head pieces(dont want a tiara but dont know how a feel about a thin head band or pins for the back of my hair). I want to see them with my hair done. Im just having my regular hair dresser do my hair for my wedding... shes great.
