How far in advance did some of you see your...
centerpiece from the florist? My wedding isn't for 9 months, but I'd like to see a centerpiece made up so I know if I like it or not. If not, it's back to the drawing board!
I don't want to wait until 1-2 months before.

Mine did it a month before esp. because they may use certain flowers that are seasonal.

I am getting married in July. I booked my florist in OCtober and I am going to see my sample centerpieces in Feb.I think you should do it earlier because they usually have more weddings in the spring/summer/fall than the winter. They probably have more time to play around now.

I was able to keep the top part not the pedestal of course. They were in my dining room for about 2 weks so I was able to see how long they would last when people take them from the wedding. I even took pics. Some plcaes will do it only weeks before the wedding (like, Pedestals, Flowers by Brian) b/c I checked them out. If you call your place, maybe they can arrange something for you
edited to say roses are roses, a good florist will tell you they are NOT seasonal. There are MANY seasonal flowers but you can get roses year round, so if it's roses you have, you should be able to get a sample done.

My centerpiece is made up of roses and hydrangeas. My florist said he would be importing them from Europe (I believe) b/c they're a different species then US hydrangeas, so I doubt they're available at this time of year.Ack...I forgot about the 'seasonal' part! Darn it!
I wonder if my florist can get them anyway, since I see them still available for sale on florist websites like 1800flowers.com, etc..

She never made me a sample, there were a couple in her portfolio and its something she has done a million times so I did not think it was necessary for her to do it. If it will make you comfortable I think you should request one closer to your wedding date, -preferably when the flowers you are using are in season. Was this a part of your contract??? for them to do a mock for you, will it be at a cost???

I saw mine right beofre I signed the contract and then again about 10 months before. You should see the centerpiece before, so you are sure that you like it.

I saw my centerpiece made up before I signed the contract, it was a way of me knowing whether or not I liked their work.

Unfortunately I'm going to have my centerpiece made a few days before the wedding, but maybe I'll change my mind when I fly in a month prior when I have to get my marraige license. But I'm getting a centerpiece for my engagement party with all the colors of my flowers. So I will get an idea
