How far in advance did you....?

Book your honeymoon? Arrange for makeup/hair? Book Limos/transportation? Select bridesmaids dresses? Find a rehearsal dinner site? I'm beginning to freak out because I very stupidly opened up to a bridal calendar in the LIweddings Magazine and it seems like a lot of this stuff can be done later than a YEAR before??? I've been engaged for 6 months now and did the important stuff (location, band, photographer, hotel accommodations) right away. I'm getting married in May 2002 (9 months) and figured I'd wait till now to find a dress (I've narrowed it down to 2!) and start looking for BM dresses. But i figured I'd take a break and do makeup, limos, etc in a few months. Am I wrong?? I guess I figured I had so much time since we had a long engagement. Please tell me I don't need to worry about all of this now!! Any advice from soon-to-be brides (and vendors) would be appreciated!! Thanks!

How far in advance did you....?

Honeymoon still hasn`t been decided yet, and we`re getting married in Sept. We`re planning the major honeymoon in Nov., hopefully. But we have no idea where we want to go. There are so many good places out there! Hair and Makeup - I had my trial in May, and finally was able to book the appointment in July (2mos), I believe. The books at Commack`s Cactus Salon are only done so far in advance, so I had to wait. But they did have me penciled in. Limos were booked in Dec. (9mos) Bridesmaids dresses were ordered in very early Jan. (8mos) Our rehearsal site was picked in July (2mos) Invitations were done in May (4mos), and came in quickly (just over a week). You seem to be doing okay timewise .. so don`t worry. We had a long engagement before we chose our date for financial reasons, since we`re planning to pay for nearly everything. But once we did chose (about a year prior), we went on a scramble to book all the major vendors. I was paranoid about finding someone we really liked, and then being told they were booked. So you might want to keep that in mind. I also ran into many 'discontinued' items. Luckily, the order for the bridesmaids dresses got in on time.

How far in advance did you....?

I too am getting married in May 2002. I have most major stuff book, and I ordered my wedding gown last May (should be in by September/October). But I wouldn't fret - you still have time for all. I have not booked our honeymoon (haven't even a clue where we want to go). I will have the girl who does my hair do my hair for the wedding, and she's done it before, so I am not too concerned about arranging for my hair. I will be doing my own make-up because I never wear any and I don't want to look like a clown if someone else does it. I've looked into limo companies, but haven't booked. Will do that by the end of this year, not too worried!! I just selected my wedding party, and we are going to look for BM dresses this Sunday. I have all different ages and sizes, so I have a feeling this will take time, but 9 months is more than enough time. The rehearsal dinner is being given by the groom's parents, and since they are members of a country club, they have graciously offered to hold the rehearsal there. My FMIL is taking care of reserving the date in the near future. All in all, I think we are in the same boat, and I am not stressing over anything. Your doing fine.

How far in advance did you....?

From a recent May bride: Honeymoon - 4 mos Makeup - no exaggeration 3 weeks before! - Hair - used my own hair girl so had that set up like 2 mos before... Limos - 3 mos BM Dresses - 6 mos RH Dinner - 3 weeks (I kid you not. I left this up to my MIL and what a nightmare this turned out to be!!) Sounds to me like you are in great shape!
