We booked that 5 months in advance, however we only had a 5 1/2 month engagement

I am booking mine now. You will find that you can not book certain vacations to far in advance. For example, we are going to Tahiti and the hotels didn't release pricing until December (flights didn't come out till October). You can book whenever you want but it will be based on last years rates (until the new ones come out).

I would just call your travel agent and see what they say.

I'm also working on booking mine right now. My Travel agent is getting some info together for me and FH...I hope to have this all taken care of by February!!

I started researching it about 8 months before. I put my first (of many) deposits down like 7-6 months before.

one year, we were using airline miles for our plane tickets and we were going on a cruise and wanted a certain area of the ship

We are going to book last minute...you never know if you are going to come across something better or you may change your mind or someone could get sick. I remember I booked a cruise a year in advanced and I miscarried two weeks before my cruise...ugh I wanted to cancel so bad just to give myself time and see doctors. They wouldnt let us. SO lesson learned take trip insurance ( which is expensive ) or just book a week before you go!! Thats what we are going to do...plus you can get major discounts for last minute vacations. Im talking thousands of dollars off, just to get the rooms filled.

just under 6 months..and we wished we got our act together a little ealier...we booked at Sandals and their prices went up drastically right at the 6 month mark...
