Block them as early as possible. Since your wedding is in the summer - prime travel & wedding season for LI you want to be sure there will be rooms available at the most convenient hotel for your guests.

ITA w/the sooner the better! Especially if your wedding will fall on or around any holidays. We blocked in February for our October wedding.

I blocked my rooms already for the summer of '04, but I wanted to cross another thing off my list. I needed quite a few rooms and I wanted to make sure I would get them. You can start calling for pricing. The sooner you book the sooner you can cross another thing off.

There is really no reason to wait. I blocked mine about 10 months before my wedding and I'm so glad b/c when I called to check on it a few weeks a go they told me that the only rooms open in their hotel for my weekend were the ones in my block.
