reserve hotel rooms for out of town guests?

I would also go ahead an get that out of the way. Send the info to all of your OOT guests with an STD.

I'd do it now just in case the hotel you block gets filled up with other bookings/blockings

But if the invites haven't gone out how do you know how many rooms you will need. DO the hotels give leeway? (probably spelled that word wrong, lol)

How mayne people do you KNOW will book? How maybe people on top of that do you think may book? Talk to the person in charge, they don;t charge you for the rooms, they just hold them for you until the month before.

I did 15 blocks and I know that at least 9 are taken already.

we booked our rooms very far in advance... we booked 50 rooms b/c we have a lot of OOT guests... we had to make sure a certain % was booked or else we would get charged... but different hotels have different policies...

I think you can never get anything done too early...
