How far in advance should I send our the Save the Dates, I have alot of people that will be flying in from out of town. I already have my block of rooms so they can start booking at any time.
TIA

I'd say about 8-12 months before your wedding.

I think it depends on the date and where everyone is coming from. We have a holiday weekend and alot of people from the mid west... so we did 11 months in adavanced.
BUT that didn;t make a difference... basically no one from out of town is coming. 80 people said no!

We sent ours 6 months in advance, but if you have a lot of OOTers or you are having a destination wedding, I believe you are supposed to send 9-12 months in advance.

I think 10 months is good
I think a year out is kind of crazy unless it is a holiday weekend

Re: How far in advance do you send Save The Dates
We sent ours about a year in advance since it is a Sunday night and the first weekend of summer ( most kids are finishing up the school year that friday) so we wanted to give people enough time so they didnt plan any vacations or anything...

Im sending mine around the 9 month mark, only because we just decided to do them and now we need to get a picture, so we will work on that in the next few weeks.
Kelley, what hotel did you block rooms at?

My engagement is only 9 months. I sent the STDs as soon as we booked the date and reception hall in the middle of September!

Re: How far in advance do you send Save The Dates
6 months. 12-6 months at least. And honestly, 6 months is more than enough. I feel like people (OOT/family) planning vacations will contact you or your parents if they have any questions and there's always talk amongst family of when a wedding is happening anyway. I got a STD for a wedding in TX 6 months in advance - there will be a lot of OOT because the groom (my cousin) is from Jersey, the bride is from TX, and they met while in the Peace Corps, meeting people from around the world.
