How far in advance from the wedding do you send out save the dates?

i'm in the process of ordering mine now and will send them out end of oct/beginning of nov, so for me---8-9 months ahead.
it's a magnet so they will be able to stick it on the fridge. if i was just dong a paper one, i wouldn't send it until the new year so they could write it right on their new calendar and not lose it.

I didnt do save the dates, I was too worried that m invite list would change

1 year. But we are getting married on a holiday weekend and we are having many OOT'ers!

We sent ours out 11 months before b/c most of our guests are from out of town.

We sent ours out 11 months before. But my whole side of the family is OOT, so we wanted them out extra early.

We are sending ours out with holiday cards (save on postage!) so it will be 9-10 months...

I hear you. I did send out an email to @ 5 people, but that is as far as I went.
