I'm looking at having the reception at a place pretty far out east. The church is in Kings Park - How far is too far to ask guests to drive. I'm looking at about 45min to 1 hr between the church and the hall.

Re: How far is too far???
Are you taking into consideration the time of year, week, etc and traffic. A Fri. night in the summer would take forever to get out east...I think anything more than an hour from the church might be a little too far....

I think if you hit an hour it may be too far.

I would keep it to half hour. I had a similar situation - my church is in E. Northport and I wanted to look at the Vineyard Caterers. I didn't due to the fact that I didn't want to inconvenience my guests and I was unwilling to choose another church.

I think anything more than a 1/2 hour is a pain...

I think somewhere at the one hour mark is fine - just make sure your guests have enough time to get there.

I think anything more than a 1/2 hour and most people will probably be skipping the church and just going to the reception.

Personally, I think that's fine. I wouldn't not go to a wedding because of the distance! JMO.

Re: How far is too far???
I would keep it under 90 minutes - that is just too much to me. Preferably I would say 45-60 mins is good. Since you are looking at Oct, there shouldn't be as much traffic as in the summer.
I once went to a ceremony in Brooklyn and then to a reception at the Carlyle in Bethpage.
