How far is/was your OB?

How far is/was your OB from your home? What about the hospital they were affiliated with (or where you will give or gave birth)?


Currently, my OB/GYN is about 45 minutes away from me and affiliated with a hosp. that is at least 30 minutes away. Is that kind of foolish when I live less than 5 minutes away from another hospital?

I hate to say this but, is the hospital closer to you, better or worse? I know that my hosp. is alot farther away than the one closest to me, but I feel more comfort. treating with my hosp. also, my new ob/gyn is in Lake Success which isn't close to me either, but I'm happier with them..

I don't think it's foolish. Your choice of OB is your choice, and if their office is a little further, than that's just circumstances beyond your control. It's important that you are comfortable w/your caregiver so if you are happy w/the care you are currently receiving, than I wouldn't necessarily change just for proximity reasons.

But, to answer your questions - my current OB is between 8-10 minutes from my house (depending upon traffic). Her office is on the same grounds as the hospital that she is affiliated with. Oddly, I had the exact same situation when I lived in California -> just a strange coincidence.

I live in Lynbrook and I am going to a new OBGYN in Bethpage next week. If I am comfortable with my new doctor I feel it is worth the distance to have a better doctor even if it is 20-30 away. The hospital that I want that is affiliated is 15-25 minutes away from my house. Mercy hospital is like 8-10 minutes but I would rather have my future children delivered at Winthrop.

As far as I know, the further one (Stony Brook) is much better when it comes to neonatal care. Well, to be honest, I don't know much about the closer hospital (Huntington Hosp.).

My OB's office is 20 minutes from the house, and the hospital is right next door. Same facility actually.

I know a few women who have the same situation...they prefer to go to a dr/hospital that they trust, rather than one closer.

my OB/GYN is about 5 mins away from my office, but 25 mins away from my home.

The affiliated hospital is 15 mins away from my house.

My OB is about 15 minutes away and the hospital (Stony Brook) is 10 minutes away.

My OB is also in Lake Success (Marcella, I wonder if we have the same one ) and the hospital, LIJ, was right next door. From my house, with no traffic -- which I'm happy to say we didn't hit -- it takes about 20 minutes.

Both my ob-gyn and hospital I will deliver at are 20-30 minutes from me, depending on traffic. They used to be a lot closer, but when I got married, we moved. But I chose to stay with my doc because I think he is wonderful. I chose Winthrop to deliver at because of it’s reputation.

Both my ob/gyn and hospitalare 45 minutes away. It's worth it to me to travel because my doctor is wonderful.

If you love your doctor, it's definitely worth the miles.

My OB and hospital are both about 5 minutes away. If I decide to deliver at StonyBrook instead that is about 10-15 minutes away.

My OB and hospital are about 20 minutes w/o traffic. My OB is moving to Great Neck - a bit further, and we're considering not using LIJ a 2nd time.

My OB is 30 min away and half the trip is on back roads.. my hospital is 25 min on the same back roads till you reach the highway....

My OB is about 20 minutes away and the hospital is about 30 minutes away. I think what is most important is how comfortable you feel with your dr and the hospital you will be delivering at.

I found an OB who is 10 minutes away from my house but affiliated with a few hospitals, of which the best one is 30 minutes away.

my obgyn is about 20-30 min away depending on the traffic but I really like her so I dont mind it.
