how far out are forecasts accurate?

accuweather has a 15 day forecast, and it went from saying cloudy yesterday, to now saying 'cloudy with showers' in Syosset, and 'a couple of thunderstorms' by my house

i'm really hoping it will change again as it gets closer, but i'm getting nervous. i really want to take pictures outside and i dont want bad weather

anyone have a forecast for rain and not get any?

oh dont even stress this yet. I started checking weather 15 days before and all i saw were thunderstorms and 60 degree weather and cloudy all day. Even the week of my wedding they were saying thunderstorms for my day, in the morning and throughout the day actually and that it would be cloudy most of the time with just a little bit of sunshine. Let me say this was the forecast for my wedding day up until the day before my wedding.

Day of i woke up and looked outside first thing and let me say it was such a beautiful sunny day. I had always said i would give anything to have 75 degree weather, and it was EXACTLY that. Didnt rain in the morning nor afternoon and it was very sunny all day not cloudy at all. I heard around 10pm or so it rained for a few mins. At this point it didnt matter bc we were inside the Rh already, somebody who went out to smoke a cig said it rained quickly and thats it

i think we had a forcast for snow, and didn't get any.

yes, in early november

the weather will change 890983451234 times between now & the wedding day. its one of those things about the wedding that you have zero control over.

i know its impossible not to check it ... and get excited when it says it'll be good weather, and worried/sad if it says bad weather ... but try to put it out of your mind.

if you're a week or less away & it says rain ... put together a plan B with some cute umbrellas in case you end up with a rainy day.

it will all be ok!

The Girls are right.....seriously, I know it's hard but don't even bother looking. They said Thunderstorms all day for mine even the night before and my day could not have been more perfect!! It was 80 and Sunny ALL DAY and around 7pm some clouds rolled in and the skies were just awesome-colored. It poured around 10pm but at that point WHO CARES!!

Don't Worry!

I LOVE THE UMBRELLA'S IDEA!!!!!!!!! I stressed the rain sooo much before my day, if I had thought of that, I would have loved it! HOW CUTE!!!!! You should put a post up about that as an idea for the girls, I LOVE IT!

don't look at the forecasts!!! i started checkign about 2 weeks before and it switched from rain to sun.. back and forth.. and on the day of.. it poured in the AM right after I got into the RH and then the skies cleared up.. so we got the best of both.. DH came prepared with an umbrella.. our photog came prepared with a funky look umbrella.. it was fun.. but we didn't end up taking it out..

so no worries.. and also rain on your wedding day is good luck..

Here's Mine:

Thursday, Aug 14
High: 74 °F RealFeel®: 74 °F
Overcast with showers and thunderstorms

But, whatever, if I get nervous, everyone gets an umbrella at the rehearsal dinner.

About an hour.

Seriously, don't look yet. My wedding day called for rain all day, when we woke up it was so dark and gray so we resigned ourselves to rain, no biggie. But about 11 am the sky opened, the clouds cleared and it was blazing sunshine and a temperate day (for March). I was able to take all my pictures outside. So please please please, don't even look, it's not worth it. You cannot plan around it and you cannot change it. Whatever happens that day happens.

Re: how far out are forecasts accurate?

A little story for you. 2 weeks ago I was sitting t my desk looking at the weather. It was Monday afternoon. I called my DH and said 'it is supposed to be 80 degrees and mostly sunny tomorrow. Want me to call out and we will go to the water park?' He said yes. So early the next morning while I am half asleep, I call out. I go back to sleep for about an hour. Then we wake up and it is just cloudy. No sun. We proceed to leave to go out east and it starts to pour. Not rain. Pour. And it was probably 75 degrees out. Once we got out east it was raining and we proceeded to the vineyards. Most of the day it was cloudy and then by late afternoon it started to get sunny and warm up a little.

Moral of the story- the weather is never accurate- stop checking it!!!!

Weather forecasts are never accurate. It was supposed to rain on my wedding day as well as my 3 BF's weddings. It didn't rain on any of our weddings.

Although I did have a freakout day about 3 days before and sent my sister to find 7 matching umbrellas. They were so perfect and matched their dresses so well that for 1 minute I wished it would rain just so we could get a great picture!

She found them at K-Mart and they were pretty cheap. She returned them since we didn't use them. It was a comforting backup.

I would go by that! I would wait till the 7 day forecast to get a more accurate report! Don't stress on a 15 day forecast, chances are it will change!! It always does!
