How Far to Penn Station from Port Authority?

OK, I am so totally Clueless....

FH is taking the Bus into Port Authority tomorrow from RHode ISland. He then needs to get NJ Transit Train to get to NJ...

We were wondering how far Penn is from Port Authority...is it walkable? Or is ther a bus or cab he has to take? He is leaving early tomorrow morning, so as soon as you could let me know, I would totally appreciate it!!!

Yeah, you can walk, it''s only about 8 blocks, I''ve walked it before.

From the PA Website: The Port Authority Bus terminal is located in the heart of Manhattan, one block west of Times Square. It occupies the blocks between Eighth and Ninth Avenues and 40th and 42nd Streets.

He can walk to Penn Station south along 8th Ave to 34th Street.
