One of my FH's friends from college is getting married one week before our wedding. Because it's OOT, only 7 days before our wedding, and we'd have to take the Friday before off from work to get there, we planned not to attend. (Not to mention the fact that they haven't even seen each other since COLLEGE, which was years ago - and I've never met him)
At any rate, we weren't even planning on inviting this guy to our wedding until he started sending FH emails about his wedding -- and word got around about our wedding, too. This was months ago. They got engaged in February and were originally getting married in July. A few months later, they changed the date to August 4th. Since he kept emailing FH and his other friends to say they were all invited, we added them to our guest list.
Now, FH's friend never asked for our address...and sort of made a comment about how it was unlikely they'd be able to go to each other's weddings... but this was months ago.
Well, long story short, we send them an invite and they haven't responded yet. We never received an invite from them and they didn't even ask for our address, so we know one isn't coming.
Today, FH gets an email from his friend's FW (not even his friend, and FH does NOT know his FW) to a giant list of people, telling everyone that she updated their wedding web site and all the updated information is there, 'including our registry information.'
Uh... you didn't even send us an invitation, but you want a gift? Go away!

Wow, that's horrible! I guess we can just hope that the FW hadn't culled the group e-mail list to people who were invited...but still!

Thats soooo weird they didn't invite you!! Do you think maybe teh invitation got lost in the mail? or do you think they just want a gift? But if they did send you one, and they dont hear back, i imagine they would call you to find out why they didn't get a response.

I told FH we should fwd the information to his friend to say, 'Did you send your invitations out yet? We didn't receive one and didn't want you to think we were rude by not responding.'
This is the couple I posted about months ago... they live in a studio apartment and registered for THREE different sets of bedding at two different stores... They have at least 4 stores at which they are registered. They also registered for 8 identical (size, shape, and color) table cloths.

It couldn't have gotten lost in the mail b/c they don't have our address... and they never asked for it. This guy has never had FH's address since they left college. I doubt he even has FH's current cell phone number. They really only 'chat' over email... and FH says they never asked for our address. We asked them for ours and he sent it, but didn't ask back. (We're not listed)
This was after multiple emails about how he hopes we're coming...
I'm so glad we decided a while ago we couldn't attend this wedding...

I doubt it. Their wedding is in a month and they don't have our address.
We'll see, I guess.

Sooo weird! And there is no way they could have gotten it from someone else? I just can't comprehend people being so rude.

I doubt it. I don't think any of their mutual friends would have it. (My parents' address was the one on our invites)
I guess we shall see... Their wedding is August 4, though. You'd think the invites would have gone out a while ago... Our wedding is the week after and our RSVP date is next week...

That IS rude. FH should email him and ask him to RSVP and just forget about their wedding all together.

Re: how freaking rude!
This is where I would want to be snotty and rude and reply back..... 'glad to see I'm good enough for the registry info, but not for the wedding invite'
However, then my FH would talk to me and tell me it's not worth it and to just forget about them!!!!

Is it possible that college buddy was responsible for his half of the guest list and dropped the ball, just assuming that your FI knows, so he's coming, so why send the invite? This is between two grooms, so there's lots of opportunities for the formalities to be overlooked. She may just think he sent the invite.

Re: how freaking rude!
How on earth did his fiance get his email address then? My FH thinks it's ruder than I do, so I know he didn't see it that way.
And, these are not guys like that - they're not even close. They haven't seen each other since college and this guy doesn't even know my first name, I bet. I maintain that it's rude to continuously email people about your wedding and then not invite them... and then send them a reminder that you updated your registry!
I highly doubt she doesn't have a guest list and checked off when assembling her invites... The email was rude either way, IMO. She never should have mentioned gifts...
ETA - and even if he was rseponsible for getting addresses for his half of the list - I highly doubt they divided up the phyiscal invitations / envelope printing, etc.
I just can't be bothered with these people... I've never even met them and FH hasn't seen them in years. It's so bizarre. All of the sudden, as soon as they got engaged (and contiuing ever since, so it's not like the guest list changed or anything), he's constantly getting emails about this wedding from him, usually to a smaller group (the guys he knew in college)

I think whether we were going to the wedding or not, they were acquaintances at best!
Mind you, I've never met them. FH hasn't seen the guy in almost 4 years.
