Seemed pretty easy to me. I still have to do my passport (I'd actually better mail that in next week -- we want to travel in early April!).
It's probably harder if you work during the week and can't get to the DMV and SS offices then, but if you've got a few hours to spare, you just do it.
Credit cards and bank accounts and stuff were simple as pie. CC companies don't even ask you to send them a copy of your marriage certificate or anything.
Professional licenses required some notarized papers, which wasn't too bad, and for one a copy of the marriage certificate (photocopy fine). Not a big deal.
I joined Miss now Mrs. but I shouldn't have -- I didn't use it at all. Just get a good checklist and do it one at a time, and before you know it... you're a new person!

Re: How hard was it to change your name?
It has been pretty easy so far. I am lazy and still have to go to DMV to change my licence, registration and title and I still have to get a new passport.

Re: How hard was it to change your name?
Not too bad. SS, DMV and passport were the big ones,
SS was super easy and quick for me
DMV was the pain in the butt bc you have to take a new pic which I didn't know (I was in DH's wrestling sweatshirt, a ponytail and zero makeup just coming from the gym) so I had to go back, rrrr.
Passport you just send in a form with your old one, so wait until after your HM
Then it's just doin all the little stuff like bank accounts, credit cards, websites, etc.

Becky, did you get your passport back yet? I finally got new pics taken today but I'm worried it's going to take forever for the new one to come. I want to travel to Ireland in April.
Thx!

Pretty easy. More annoying than anything else. Like the others girls have said, just make a cheklist and you should be fine.

Re: How hard was it to change your name?
I was dreading it but I thought it went pretty smoothly...before the wedding I wrote down all the numbers I needed to call and got all the paper work I needed and had that all filled out so i just had to go to the places and get it done...honestly it was pretty easy...I made all my phone calls one day (credit cards, accounts, etc.), went to the bank another day with DH to do all of that, and then one other day for DMV and SS....not bad!

Re: How hard was it to change your name?
it was so easy for me! it took only about 30 minutes at the DMV and another 30 at the SS office...it was no problems
the only problems i ran into was changing my car loan...they didnt switch the account and the money didnt come out of my bank for 3 months!!!
