How I am dealing with cash tips!

How I am dealing with cash tips!

I decided that going to the bank a few days before my wedding and taking out hundreds of dollars in 20s will be too much to start dealing with, because I will have so many payments due right around then.

So now everytime I get a paycheck I am taking out an extra $40 and hiding it, so when the wedding rolls around I already have plenty of cash waiting to go!

smart idea- also a good way to save slowly and not feel like you are withdrawing hundreds of $$ all at once

im in the minority... i say keep everything in savings accounts as long as you can, esp if you arent getting married until 09.

then let the interest you earn on it lessen the blow.

I agree. Put it in a savings account that you don't touch!

Usually, yes, but the interest I am going to earn on that money in a regular savings account will be such a small amount it barely seems worth the effort of making a large withdrawal in cash right before the wedding. And if I put it into my mutual fund account right now, it would all probably be lost in the market by the time my wedding rolls around!!!

That's a great idea. My FH did something similar. He stashed away change and dollar bills in a HUGE jug. We are going to use that for the wedding tips. He has been doing this since Christmas and has almost 500!

We have been putting money in jars too! We each have one it was going to be a contest but FH decided to count it all and put it all in HIS!!!!

But I put 20% of my check in a seperate account for all wedding stuff.

GREAT IDEA....that's what I started to do with my spare change...every week I dump into my little container not sure how much I have, I just started doing that in August after he proposed to me. But I'm sure by the time the wedding comes I should have a couple of hundreds!

Yep, we have 'the pumpkin' -- a little pumpkin bowl that change goes into but does not come out until full . . . it's about 50 bucks each time we fill it, and we'll have tip money together easily!

i totally agree. FH wants to pay all this stuff off early, and i told him we're keeping the $$$ on the ING account until the bills are due so WE earn the interest instead of the overpriced wedding vendors.
