I did this and it was EXTREMELY helpful made the process very fast. Every guest got their name on a post it flag which i attached to a tooth pick. I made a floor plan of the hall with tables on foam board. Post its had differnt colors for the following: Yellow- a couple Blue - SIngle person coming Green - kids Pink - family more than 2 people that should sit together
Thi smade the process very fast im a geek but im glad i did it. I was free to move people around till we were pleased with the final product
Great idea! I was dreading doing the seating, but that helps!! Thanks.

We did something similar...copied from Carmen Electra and Dava Navarro's show...
We printed out the names of people in a group with the total number at one end (we already had this in a database so it was a piece of cake).
Cut individual groups out and make groups of who knows who in separate piles.
Put together tables of 8-10 people on a letter size piece of paper for each table, moving mini- heets from above around.
Then we moved around the sheets to place the tables and adjusted as necessary.
It took maybe 1 1/2 hours for the whole thing (including cutting) for 200+ people and no one complained to our faces about who they sat with and where. And there were no mistakes!
The whole process reminded me of the analytical section of the GRE....if so and so doesn't like y who does z sit with if they really want to sit with a and b but not q...
PS - if we had a group of 11 or 12, we split them into two tables to encourage getting up and mingling with others...

Great idea! Did you get measurements of the room or where the tables are from CLM or just kinda guessed? How many people fit at a table? I forgot...
I FMed you the other day, I dunno if you got it...
