Just wondering after our Pastor sends in the signed marriage license how long it takes to get back the official copy. Does anyone know? Just trying to figure it out because we are planning a honeymoon for 3.5 months after the wedding and I know I can get my passport back in time with my new name if it doesn't take terribly long to get the marriage certificate back.
I had it within 3 weeks. To be safe you could always get your passport in your current name and make all your travel arrangements in your current name and then after your honeymoon send your passport back and get it changed. You have 1 year to change it after they issue it for a name change for marriage at no charge.
Mine took a little less than a month. I would also just be safe and keep your maiden name until you return unless you really end up with like over 2 months to go.
I got mine in 2 weeks but I got married at town hall so I dont know if that makes a difference.
Mine took about two weeks to get...soon after i went down to the social security and changed my maiden name and that took about about one week...also keep in mind when you go to the dmv it takes about ten days...but for dmv you just need your marriage license...they didnt ask for my ss card...you will definitely have time before the honeymoon
The license comes in the mail or should I go to town hall to pick it up?
We got ours back like, 2 weeks after the wedding.
We had a week between our wedding and honeymoon, it came before we left and was able to send it to ss so that was done by the time we came home.
