I'll try to give a quick situation here....We are ready to close any day now (and hopefully move in right after that) The house we're in, we are renting from inlaws, yes inlaws and they sold the house. We don't have a closing date yet, they don't have a closing date yet but both are real soon. If they close before we can move out, how long do we have here before we HAVE TO move out? I'll be damned if they would kick us out and we would have to make 2 moves!

i believe you have to move out BEFORE the closing. at the walk through, which occurs right before closing, all of your stuff needs to be out. there are some situations where the buyer will allow you to stay and you pay 'rent' to them per diem. however, the buyer does not need to allow that.

yes, i think that too...
we are closing (HOPEFULLY) next friday, and the woman in the co-op now, is moving out this weekend, so that on Friday, we can do our walik-through, and then it's ours.

Once you sign the papers at the 'closing', you OWN it... and get the keys.

You technically have 7 days to move after closing. This just happened to friends of mine, which is the only reason why I know this. They closed in the beginning of August and moved in August 22nd.

The people they bought from needed 7 days since the people they bought from needed 7 days. Turned into 2 weeks total between all the 7 day extensions.
