What's the proper time before asking your BP? We are anxious to ask everyone, but we're not sure if it's too early! I'd like to have a cocktail party at our apartment and invite them all and them ask them together. Is that nice?

i would say thats a good idea ... i asked them the next day after i got engaged ... thats how i told them i was engaged ... i made liite bags up wiht this poem asking them to be my bridesmaids and then had them delivered!!!

Thats a good idea. I aske dmine right away. Alot of my girls already knew that when I did get engaged I would ask them so they all kinda knew already.

I have been asking everyone individually. I would love to have asked them all together but it's just too difficult because we are spread out all over the place!
But you can ask whenever you want. I mean the sooner you ask the sooner you have them to be excited with you!

hey andrea! i asked them 3 months later- a few days b4 my eparty- i made this cute mini-photo books from kodakgallery then typed individual poems inside- we went out to dinner and i gave it to them there, it was real nice

I asked them right after I was engaged - but then again my whole BP consists of my 3 sisters! So they knew!!

we're hostign a party to invite BP members to be in the BP, probley in a few months... just found out, FH wants a miami, surprize 25th for me, ( he is teh worst at surprizes )

It really depends on who you are asking. Family ask right away if its friends and you have been best buds for years then you really don't have to wait. The only time you wait is if a person just came into your life now and you never know if things will fall apart between you two.

Most of my bp knew they were in it as soon as i was engaged... But formally I made up a small scrapbook asking everyone to be in it and handed them out individually... The only time I would wait is if you are asking a friend who you havent been friends with for a long time...

I haven't formally asked them yet, but they all know. I was going to maybe have them over one afternoon for lunch, but I like the idea of delivering something. Some of my friends gave gifts when they asked, but I'm not sure I'm going to do that. I'm still debating on one though. FH is having a hard time deciding, so I am going to hold off for now...

well i asked the night i got engaged bc we are having a tiny BP - i am just having my cousin and Jenn
but honestly, i have read so many posts on here about people wanting to 'un-ask' their bridesmaids or groomsmen so i would try to wait as late as possible. . . even if you are 'sure' of your BP - people change and situations come up! maybe wait for your one year mark?

That sounds really cute!
Two of my girls are married to two of the guys in the BP so we asked each couple over dinner. Then, I asked another BM individually, and he asked the rest of his guys when they were out at a bar (MEN ) Everyone was asked within a month of the engagement
I couldn't wait any longer to ask my girls because some of them are very wedding addicted (and after planning their own, they have so many great ideas) so i wanted to get them in on some of the early planning, and they were so happy with that.
I guess everyone does it differently though, and your idea sounds great. Good luck!! and i can't wait to hear how it goes! Soo exciting!!

i really didnt want a big bridal party, but i think i will have 5 girls total.
I really want to do something special and unique.
I saw some cool ideas on the knot, and i want to put something together like a gift, maybe something personalized, or something with their title on it.
I still have alot of time, to decide this, and i really want to make it memorable.
I think i will ask them about a lil over a year before the wedding date

I got engaged at the end of April and just asked my BP a week before Christmas. I wanted to do something special so I made each girl a scrapbook with friendship quotes and pics of us through the years and then the last page had a card that said Will you be my bridesmaid...I had asked all the girls to come over for a holiday get together and then I gave them their books. I also gave them a tank top that said bridesmaid, a cookie in the shape of a dress that said will you be my bridesmaid(so cute!) and a bridesmaid guide book. All of the girls loved it and it was a great night!!!
