but, how long before the RSVP date (not the wedding!) should the invitations be sent?

we sent ours out 6 weeks before the rsvp date.

the average is 4-6 weeks before the rsvp date

I'm doing 4 weeks. I don't want to give the guests too much time to lose the RSVP or to forget the wedding date.
